Abstract: Outflow is an important feature in various celestial bodies, such as stellar winds in stars, ejection in supernova remnant, jets in protostars, outflow in star-forming galaxies. The outflow/jet in protostars not only records the accretion history of its host stars, but also affects the chemistry of protostellar disk, and further planet formation. In larger scale — galaxies, this will affect the star formation. The outflow feedback is key for hot gases in galactic halos and circum-galactic medium (CGM) that is an important site for missing baryons. However, present explanations for observations are based on numerical simulation. In this talk, I will present some laboratory analogs for the outflow interaction with medium. By laboratory spectroscopy with high-resolution and imaging of X-rays, interferometry, photography, and proton photography, we explore the details of outflow interactions. This will post insights on the outflow feedback in protostars or galaxies.

Bio: Guiyun Liang is Professor at National Astronomical Observatory, CAS (NAOC). Guiyun obtained his PhD in astrophysics at NAOC on 2015. Then, he worked as a postdoctoral fellow at Max-Planck institute for Nuclear Physics in Germany, and Strathclyde University in UK during Nov. 2016 — Feb. 2011. Since Mar. 2011, he joined in NAOC under the BR program of CAS. On 2015, he obtained the support of NSFC Outstanding Youth Science program. Later, Guiyun obtained the support (PI) by National Key R&D program on 2017. His research activities are in X-ray and EUV spectroscopy of laboratory plasmas (generated by electron beam ion trap and intense lasers) and stellar corona, calculations of atomic parameters, laboratory analog for astrophysical outflow interaction with medium. He developed a spectral analysis tool — SASAL for high-resolution spectroscopy in next-generation X-ray missions, e.g. HUBS. In the laboratory astrophysics, he has published 78 papers in high-impact refereed journals.
