SHAO Astrophysics Colloquium
Title: The Milky Way in Gamma-rays
Speaker: Prof. Ruizhi Yang (杨睿智; Univ. of Science and Technology of China)
Time: 3:00 pm, October 22th (Thursday)
Location: Lecture hall, 3rd floor
Abstract: Our Galaxy is bright in the gamma-ray band. Those gamma-ray are mainly produced by the interaction of cosmic rays (CR) with the interstellar medium (ISM), and thus can provide us important information on the origin of CRs and distribution of ISM. In this talk, I will focus on the gamma-ray observations of the Giant Molecular clouds (GMCs), the Galactic plane and the Galactic Center (GC), and discuss the possible implications. I will also present the LHAASO's prospect in this area.
